Elsie Mae Tripp-Collins, departed this earthly life peacefully on June 20, 2018, at Yale New Haven Health.

Elsie was born October 25th, 1953, in the city of Pamlico County, North Carolina to the late Fenner Jr and Lucille (Miller) Tripp. She was a graduate of Pamlico High School, Class of 1972, Bayboro, NC. On July 6th, 1972, she moved from NC to New Haven, Connecticut. Elsie was a longtime employee (30 years) of the New Haven Public Schools in New Haven, and was employed about 20 years in Healthcare. She was a member of the Apostolic Community Church, Meriden, CT and was on the Missionary Staff as well as the Kitchen staff when she was active, and was very well known for her pound cakes.

Elsie loved her family and friends dearly, she would do anything for you. She had a smile that would light up the room

Elsie leaves to cherish her memories, her loving husband, Jimmie Collins, her loving mother, Lucille Miller Tripp of Knightdale, NC, her 4 daughters & 1 son, Latanya Tripp-Roach (Levar), of Hamden, CT, Tracy Collins (special friend Cory), of New Haven, Jeremy Collins (Shelly) of Springfield, MA, Melinda Collins (Special friend Lyndell) of Hamden, CT, and Belinda Collins Geyer (Burnest) of Hamden CT. Elsie also leaves her 10 grand children, Jeffrey, Naquan, Norris, Jeremy Jr, Tremaine, Jada, Ciara, Brandon, Brooklyn and Brielle. She is also survived by her 5 great-grandchildren, Taniya, Emarie, Jade, Naquan Jr and Josiah.

Elsie also leaves to cherish her memories, her 2 brothers and 4 sisters, Tony Tripp of Newbern, NC and Ernest Tripp (Sung Ae) of Augusta, GA, her sisters, Shirley Murray (John), Judy Hodges, (Tony), Linda Godette, (Artis) all of New Bern, NC and Karen Easter, (Jimmie) of Oceanside California and Sonja Gray Tripp of Knightdale, NC. She also leaves several Aunts, cousins, and a host of nieces and nephews

She is also survived by her 3 sisters in law and 4 brothers in law, Hattie Collins Boone, (Raymond) of Arapahoe, NC, Rosa Cennetta Collins Moore (James) of Jacksonville, NC, Carol Collins William (Marshall) of New Bern, NC, a Ruth Blango of New Haven, CT. Garland Collins (Luz) of Summerville, SC, and Kevin Collins Arapahoe, NC.

Elsie was predeceased by her loving father Fenner Tripp Jr, one sister, Mary Elizabeth Tripp Jones and one brother, her twin, Ellis Ray Tripp Sr., her father and mother in law, Jimmy & Rosa M. Collins, her brother in law, Winferd Blango.

Service will be held Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 11am at the Apostolic Community Church, 146 Center Street, Meriden, CT, calling hours will be held from 10 am to 11am. Condolences may be expressed at
