Private Funeral Services for Alfred L. Early Jr. will be held Saturday October 31, 2020 at 10:00 am at Grace Baptist Church 65 Kingsbury Street. Burial at New Pine Grove Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Public walk-thru at Grace Baptist Church will be Saturday from 8:00 am till 9:30 am. At Colonial 270 West Main Street are handling arrangements with James R. Sanders Funeral Director. The Covid-19 Mandates will be in place and masks will be require. Alfred Leroy Early Jr., 78 of Waterbury, CT, peacefully joined God at heaven’s gate, on Friday, October 23, 2020, at Waterbury Hospital, surrounded by his loving family and friends.

Alfred was born on October 17, 1942 in New York, New York, to the late Alma Smith and the late Alfred Leroy Early, Sr. Alfred was raised by his aunt and uncle, Marion and Wesley Stith in Emporia, Virginia, where he was educated within the district. Alfred’s enthusiasm, work ethic, and desire to obtain a better life, led him enlisting in the United States Air Force for several years.

After receiving an Honorable Discharge from the Military, Alfred later moved to Waterbury, CT, and met the love of his life, Laura Early (Shannon) in 1962. Alfred and Laura married on April 15, 1967, and welcomed three children together; Sonya Renee, Reginald, and Shawna.

Alfred was a devoted, loving, caring, and compassionate father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend, who always made time for his family, especially during birthdays and the holidays. Additionally, Alfred was an avid poker and pool player. He belonged to the American Legion Club of Waterbury, and was a faithful disciple of Grace Baptist Church. Alfred was also known for providing his community with “Ice Cold Water”, and established the nickname of “Wildman.”

Alfred was predeceased by his parents, Alma Smith, and Alfred Early Sr. Alfred is survived by, and left to cherish his loving memory, his wife of 53 years, Laura; their children: Renee Early of Waterbury, CT; Reginald Early Sr., and his wife Kathy Early (Alabre) of Windsor, CT; and Shawna Early, Esq., of Montclair, New Jersey; 7 grandchildren: Avery Gibson and her Fiancé, Tyler Margison of Bristol, CT; Raven Early of Paducah, Kentucky; Ahreyana Petrucci of Waterbury, CT; Kennedy Early, Reginald Early Jr., and Kaylee Early of Windsor, CT; and Stella Early of Montclair, New Jersey; his sisters in law: Lucy Forbes (Shannon), and her husband Pete Forbes of Waterbury, CT; and Esther Mosley (Shannon), and her husband Honorable Maurice Mosley of Waterbury, CT, and a host of aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins, in laws, and many friends who loved him dearly.
