Alvin Leroy Singleton, 90 of 329 Schraffts Dr. Waterbury, died peacefully at home on December 9, 2020 with his wife of 57 years, Gloria by his side. Mr. Singleton was born in Franklin West Virginia on May 18, 1930 to Campbell B. Singleton and Elizabeth (Wright). He was predeceased by his brother Campbell (Benny) Singleton and his children Craig, Laurice, James, and Jeffrey, He is survived by his wife Gloria, his two sisters Anna Dean Johnson and Frieda Baxter both of Pennsylvania, eight grand children, sixteen great-grand children, many nieces and nephews and beloved friends. Mr. Singleton proudly served his country as a Merchant Marine and the United States Marines Corp. He also served his community as the Director of New Opportunities and was a prominent business man in the city of Waterbury. Mr. Singleton was an emeritus member of the Connecticut Chapter of Guardsman, a former member of The Elks of Philadelphia and past president of the American Heart Association. He was a devout member of Grace Baptist Church.
