Debra Hailey-Fuqua

Debra Hailey-Fuqua passed away on May 10th, 2023, at Northside Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. Debra was born on August 16th, 1961, to Lannie Hailey and Helen Heggie in New Haven, Connecticut.  After graduating from James Hillhouse High School, she earned her associate degree from Gateway Community College. Before passing, she worked as a teacher assistant in the Gwinnett County School System.

Debra, like most, enjoyed a few of life’s simple pleasures such as displaying her collection of angel figurines, wearing pretty dresses or drinking her daily Dunkin Donuts’ caramel favored iced coffee, but, more importantly, she will be remembered as a spiritual rock dedicated to her family with an unwavering love and faith in God and a person who was always willing to share her faith and keep one in her prayers.

In Atlanta, she leaves behind her children, Sable Williams, Helen Fuqua and James Fuqua Jr.  A granddaughter, Mha’rya Anderson and a husband James (Barry) Fuqua. She also leaves behind her mother, Helen Hailey, sisters, Gloria Hailey Walker and Brenda Hailey of New Haven and a sister, Shirley Hunter of North Port, Florida along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and relatives.

Debra was predeceased by her father, Lannie, a brother Ellis, a great niece Madison and a brother-in-law Donald.
