Geneva O. Elm

June 22, 1921 - June 6, 2019

Burial Date: June 11, 2019

Her funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 11th 2019 and overseen by Colonial, located at 86 Circular Avenue in Hamden, CT. The viewing hours will begin at 10:00a.m. until 11:00a.m. with the service starting at 11:00a.m. The interment will immediately follow at Evergreen Cemetery, 769 Ella T Grasso Blvd, New Haven, CT.

Geneva O.  Elm, born June 22, 1921, left this earthly realm at age 97, on June 6, 2019, while she was peacefully surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Anderson, South Carolina and later migrated to New Haven, CT with her children and husband Alex Elm. Geneva was a warm-hearted educator by nature. During her early years in New Haven, she was a substitute teacher for the City of New Haven and later dedicated her works to specialize in Early Childhood Education. Subsequently, she worked at Macedonia Daycare Center in New Haven, CT up until her retirement from the field of education.

She is predeceased by her father Pastor James Butler, mother Susie (Patterson) Butler, brother James Butler Jr., son Montgomery Elm and devout father to all of the Elm children, the late Richard Forbes.

She leaves behind to preserve her memory, her benevolent children, Theresa Elm, Joyce E. Jacobs, Barbara Elm, Richard Elm and Roy Elm. Her granddaughters Aisha Elm, Chalyce Jacobs, Eboni Elm, Yevonne Sears, Royale Elm, Roysha Elm and additionally a loyal grandson, Tyran Elm.  Also, she cherished in her memory her only living nephew, Clarence Butler along with an abundance of special relatives and friends.
