Leonard Brown, 63 of New Haven CT, passed away on Saturday October 24, 2020 at Yale New Haven Hospital after a courageous battle with a debilitating decease.

Leonard was born on November 2, 1956 in Orange, NJ to the late Isham W. Brown of Franklin County, VA and the late Esther K. Brown of Riverdale NC. Growing up he was surrounded by a large family including three brothers and two sisters.

Leonard was raised in South Orange, NJ attending the South Orange-Maplewood Public School system and competing in Community House activities where he developed his interest in all things mechanical. As a young adult he moved to New Haven, CT where he finished his schooling, graduating with honors and began his career as an automobile mechanic. He was well known in his community as someone willing to identify and assist neighbors with their auto mechanical problems.

Leonard met Carmen James of New Haven, CT. Five children were born from this union. Leonard loved his family and he cherished each of his children. He was proud of what they became and what they’ve accomplished. Including, his twelve grandchildren.

Throughout his life Leonard was personable and loveable. He was blessed with wit and shared it with others. He had a trademark smile with deep dimples that everyone loved.

Leonard leaves to cherish loving memories: daughters Kaamilah, Katisha, Katreena and Kaleena; son, Kashon; sister Barbara Reid; granchildren, Celise, Anaiah, Akaisa, Skye, Adalayah, Malani, Markell, Letrell, Karter, Jayden, Kenzie, and Louie.

In addition to his parents Leonard was predeceased by brothers Reginald, Melvin, Ivan and sister Kathleen.
