Mary Davis Swain, which we lovingly referred to as “Aunt Coodie” was born on August 29th, 1953, in Wake County, NC to the late Ella-Ree Mitchell Davis and Charles Davis Sr. She went to meet our savior on Wednesday, December 27th, 2023, surrounded by family at her home.

Mary was an educated and hardworking woman. She was God fearing and loved by so many. Her children and grandchildren were always her top priority and filled her life with joy and purpose. She had a contagious smile and would help anyone in need but was also known to give you a piece of her mind and a hug later.  She indulged in almond joy candy bars, politics, music (We Are Family and Victory is mine being her favorite songs) and the African Culture. She owned more than a few tribal patterned items. She was loud, happy and one could say she was the life of the party.

She leaves to cherish her memory her 3 children, Tyreise Swain, Victoria Swain and Martin Swain. Her siblings, Claretha Davis Franklin, Diane Davis, Betty Davis and Darnell Davis. As well as 8 beautiful grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. A heartfelt thank you to her sister Claretha, great nephews Brandon (Angela), Calvin, Great nieces Vonda and Karen and nieces, Michelle, Felicia and Loretta whom cared for her during this difficult time.

She was predeceased by four brothers, Ivey-Lee Davis, Billy Ray Davis, Leroy Davis, Charles Davis Jr and  two sisters, Charlotte Davis Daluz and Terry Davis.

Timothy 4:7-8 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.”
