Mary Faith Barnes Lewis

Mary Faith Barnes Lewis received her heavenly Wings on September 16, 2023 at Yale New Haven Hospital
Mary was born in Newburgh, New York on March 19, 1938 to parents Mary King Barnes and Joseph Stewart Barnes. Mary grew up in Newburgh, New York where she went to school and began then working as a nursing assistant at St Luke’s Hospital of Newburgh for 12 years and then transferred to Castle Point VA Medical Center in New York for 3 years.
Mary then relocated to West Haven, Connecticut where she continued working as a CNA at the VA hospital in West Haven for the next 35 years. She retired in 2010. Mary made world traveling a hobby throughout her life. Traveled locations include: Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, Rome, Paris, Venice in Italy, China and Johannesburg, South Africa twice. Mary is survived by her ex-husband Joseph Lewis, a sister, Julie Barnes, a daughter Mary Frances Lewis and sons Reginald D Lewis and Trevor H Lewis; six grandchildren, Katina Lewis, Reginald Lewis Jr., Ja’Nice Walker, Sereina Hawkins, and Clyde Hawkins Jr and one more granddaughter.
Also a great grandson Reginald Lewis III. Along with the host of nieces and nephews.
Mary was predeceased by a daughter, Tanya Lewis Hawkins; Sisters, Joan Barnes, Janice Shank, Judith Barnes and brothers, Joseph, Edward, Stewart, & Lindsey Barnes. Also predeceased nieces and nephews Desiree Knox, Druscilla Coleman, Leslie Barnes, Jolene Thomas, Anthony Barnes, Lindsey Moore and Jeffrey Thomas.
