Norven T. Baskerville

August 17, 1935 - April 20, 2021

Services will be held at Colonial Funerals, 270 West Main Street, Waterbury, CT, on Tuesday, April 27, 2021. Walk-through Viewing will be at 11:00AM; 12:00PM Private Service (for family and close friends), with Interment to follow at Prospect Cemetery. Arrangements by James R. Sanders, Funeral Director. Norven T. Baskerville: Of Prospect, CT, 85, passed away April 20, 2021, at Saint Mary’s Hospital, in Waterbury, CT. He was born August 17, 1935, in Oxford, NC, to the late William Wells Baskerville and Maude Skidmore (Peace) Baskerville.  He was a graduate of Mary Potter Academy (Granville County, NC) and attended the University Of New Haven.  Earlier years, he worked for the Housing Authority; City of New Haven and for many years, prior to retirement, worked for the State of Connecticut Worker’s Compensation Commission. Always a lover of music and theater, he sang and recorded with the ‘Five Chestnuts’, ‘Five Satins’, and ‘Admirations’. He was a  performer with the SNET Chorus and active member of the Grace Baptist Senior and Men’s Choirs.
In his spare time, he often collaborated on new music with friends and other musicians. When he wasn’t collaborating on music, he enjoyed socializing with friends for a friendly game of cards, good food and drinks.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 58 years, Rosalyn J. Baskerville; Children Norven T. Baskerville, Jr.; Jena Baskerville ; Philip M. Baskerville ; Christopher A. Baskerville (Magdaline). Grandchildren Kimberly Walker (Lance) and Christopher A. Baskerville, Jr. Great Grandchild Jacob Walker. Brother-in-laws Ronald Jones (Bobbie), Louis Taylor, and Chester Talley; Sister-in-laws Brenda Salone; Patricia Jones; and Barbara Joyner; Uncle Charles James; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Norven was predeceased by his siblings Mary E. Gregory; Elizabeth Taylor; William Baskerville; Hayes Smith Baskerville; Alice Louise Talley; Wilbert Bernard Baskerville. He is survived by his sister Gertrude Wright.
