Peggy Marlene Eggleston

May 22, 1950 - January 15, 2022

Burial Date: January 25, 2022

Arrangements:  Funeral Service will be held on January 25th, 2022 at 11am at House of Prayer 1245 Thomaston Ave Waterbury. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery.  Calling hour will be at 10am at the church.  Services will be at 11am. Arrangements have been entrusted to Colonial Funerals and James R. Sanders. Waterbury- Ms. Peggy Marlene Eggleston, 71, joined our heavenly Father on Saturday January 15, 2022, at Waterbury Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.  She was the daughter of the late Edgar Eggleston, Sr and Edlar (Kelley) Nelson.  She was born in Gatesville, NC on May 22, 1950.  Ms. Eggleston moved to Waterbury in 1965.  She was a graduate of Kennedy High School, class of 1968.  She was employed by the State of Connecticut, Department of Social Services for 31 years, before retiring in 2003.

She was a devoted mother and a strong, determined, caring, no nonsense woman. She was a firm believer in Jesus Christ and instilled that in her children and grandchildren. She loved music and dancing.  Some of her favorite musicians were Rance Allen, Lee Williams, Bobby Womack, Aretha Franklin, Beres Hammond, and Sam Cooke.  She also enjoyedcooking and murder mysteries.

She is survived by her son Michael Eggleston, her daughter Candace Eggleston-Regan, four grandchildren-Shana, Elijah, Maya, and ZakhirEggleston, and one great grandson, Chandler Eggleston-Hightower, two brothers, Edgar Jr. and James Eggleston, a sister, Bertha Mitchell and a host of nieces and nephews.  She is predeceased by her sister LyrettaPowell.
