Robert Hutton

Burial Date: February 8, 2020

A viewing will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Friday February 7, 2020, followed by a Funeral Service starting at 7 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Woodbridge, Connecticut. The burial will take place the following day Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at All Saints Cemetery in North Haven, Connecticut.

Robert Hutton, 66, of New Haven, Connecticut passed away on February 3, 2020. He was born in Loganlea, West Lothian, Scotland on July 5, 1953 to Daniel and Margaret Geddes (Gallagher) Hutton.

He worked as a cash register technician and repairman for 20 years before returning to his education and graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Social Sciences from Paisley University in 1999. On July 31, 1999 he married Linda (Giamattei Pechalonis) Hutton, and in 2001 he immigrated to the United States where they returned to his wife’s family home in New Haven. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served over the years in various church callings such as Young Single Adults Leader, Elders’ Quorum President, Ward Mission Leader and adult Sunday school teacher. He was also in charge of the 1881 Scottish Census transcription for the Church.

He was an avid birder and creator of the Eastern American Birdshare community. A lover of all animals, he also did volunteer work for the New Haven Cat Project. He was a talented darts player and valued member of various darts teams around Scotland. Other beloved hobbies included fishing and golf, being a long-time member of the Lochwinnoch Golf Club in Paisley, Scotland.

His real passion was for his art work, being a gifted pencil-sketch artist. He also loved to sing, writing lyrics to many songs. All this was done from his youth.

Robert leaves behind his wife Linda and step-daughter Katie Pechalonis. He also leaves behind sister Mary Riley; brother Patrick Hutton; brother Daniel Hutton Jr; brother George Hutton; sister Theresa Whyte; brother John Hutton; and sister Margaret McIver, all of whom reside in Scotland.

He also leaves behind five feline fur babies: Sparky; Tetley; Eva; Adam; and Rachel all of which he loved dearly.
