Sara Mae Carey, age 36, of New Haven, CT  transitioned to the afterlife on January 31, 2018. She was born March 18, 1981 in Willimantic, CT the daughter of Victoria Cripe and Mark Carey. Sara was a graduate of James Hillhouse High School class of 1999 and a proud Alumni of Southern Connecticut State University where she received a Bachelor of Arts with a focus on secondary education and psychology. Sara was also nearly complete with meeting requirement to obtaining a Master of Science in preparation for a Connecticut Teacher Certification. Sara had been employed as a 6th and 7th grade teacher at Living Word Ministries and assisted in the development of an early childhood education program at Wayfaring Ministries prior to her death. Sara was well known for impeccable style, infectious smile, generous kind heart, and effortless displays of intellect. Sara is survived by her husband Michael Walker of New Haven, CT; two daughters, Amaya Hill, and Mykara Walker of New Haven, CT.; two sons Jaydin Hill, and Avery Carey of New Haven, CT; one grandson Malachi Hyman of New Haven, CT.; one God-daughter Kennedy Senior of New Haven, CT.; One sister Rachel (Christopher) Farrell of Simsbury, CT.; one brother Daniel (Michele Terese) Carey of Groton CT.; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Sara was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Albert and Betty Carey; one sister Crista Mae LaCasse; one nephew Jack Farrell; and her maternal grandparents.

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday February 17, 2018 in Colonial, 86 Circular Ave Hamden at 11 O’clock. Viewing in Colonial from 10-11am. Condolences may be expressed at
