A Celebration of Shaunya’s life will be held on Saturday September 28, 2019 in Colonial Funeral Home, 86 Circular Avenue Hamden at 9 o’clock. Viewing held in Colonial from 8-9am. Bishop Gary Ross, SR. will officiate. Interment will follow in the family plot in Evergreen Cemetery.
Shaunya Odessa Moncrease-Reed, 43 of New Haven, entered into eternal life on Sept 19, 2019. She was born October 1, 1975 in New Haven; beloved daughter of the late Edward Flowers and Margaret Gladstone-Colvin. She is predeceased in death by her spiritual parents Suff. Bishop Joseph and First Lady Carrie Oliver of North Haven, Ct. Shaunya was the devoted wife of Keyshand Reed. She leaves behind 4 sisters, Elesia (Ernest Mullins) of Hamden, Bridget of Greenville, NC, Pam of West Haven, Sabrina (Moncrease) of Hamden and 3 brothers, Thomas of Union City, GA, Kenneth of Atlanta, GA and Joseph (Flowers) of New Haven. God children Johnesha and Jaymar Reddick, Da’mari Treasure, Trent Maurice Young Jr, Joshua Williams, Laniya Moncrease. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, beloved saints, friends and her circle of love. She graduated from Career High School in 1994 as a Certified Nursing Assistance. Also, attended CONNCAT and graduated as Valedictorian with a certificate in medical coding. She was a member of the National Honor Society Alpha Beta Kappa. Shaunya was a social, active woman who was deeply involved in church. She volunteered her services in the usher board ministry, food drive organization, prison ministry, community fund raising, outreach ministry, dorm monitor for church camp and cooked for vacation bible school. She enjoyed cooking, baking, traveling and spending time with family and friends. Her family and friends will always remember her huge heart, big smile and comical sense of humor.
