Sherry Rucker

Sherry departed this life on Sunday, May 1, 2022 at Howard General Hospital in Columbia, Maryland. She came to the New Haven, CT at the age of three years old with her parents. She grew up in church and graduated from R.C. Lee high School in 1981 where she excelled winning several scholarships and continued her education at the University of Connecticut. She also went to Gateway Community College and earned a degree as a paralegal.

She was a lab technician at Yale New Haven Hospital. Then went on to teach at Wexler Grant and Highville Muster Elementary Schools and was an outdoor recreation CTA.

There she learned that she loved teaching and after moving to Maryland in 2004 with her two children she continued her education to get her teaching certificate. Later she became ill and have conquered many obstacles in the past few years.

Sherry was a wonderful mother, daughter and sister. She leaves to mourn her passing her son Kenneth Terry of the home. Kytia Neal of Oklahoma, two grand children Amari and Elias Neal. Her Mother Mary Telford of New Haven. Five sisters, Patricia Powell of Detroit Michigan, Cecelia Telford and Angela Telford of New Haven, CT, Johanna Rucker of Detroit, Michigan and Barbara Rucker-Miller of Detroit Michigan, two brothers Anthony Walton and Curtis Patterson in Anderson, South Carolina.

She is predeceased by her father Bobby Rucker, stepfather Nate Telford, sister Mary Rucker-Benjamin, one brother Louis Patterson, her maternal grandparents and her paternal grandparents and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She will be missed by all.
