Toni Lorraine Walker was born May 3, 1953, in New Haven, CT to the late Lemuel “Pete” Walker and Billie Moore. Toni grew up in West Hills, on 410 Valley Street. After the passing of her mom, Toni began her motherly role helping raise her two younger sisters Robin Walker and Donna Walker. Toni met her first love, the late Anthony Fernandez, in 1966 at Sheridan Middle School. Before their marriage in 1970 they welcomed their first child Troy Fernandez. After marriage they welcomed their second child Tequell Fernandez. Toni began her employment making guns at Winchester in New Haven until she broke her back in 1985. The doctor told her that she would never walk again. Not only did she walk again, she also began working for the United States Postal Service in 1987 as a letter carrier WALKING all over New Haven, CT. Toni met her next love, the late Ralph Ford, in 1989 and they welcomed their child Raymond Ford and bonus children, Kim “Shawnese” Stevenson, Desiree Stevenson, Ralph Ford Jr., and Terri Ford. Toni loved to draw, play spades, get her hair done, buy shoes, buy pocketbooks, and most importantly she loved her family. Toni made sure everyone around her was taken care of, whether it’s her family or friends. But Toni wasn’t done there, in 1996 Toni met her final love Joseph Barnes of Kingston, Jamaica. Before his sudden death, they welcomed Toni’s baby Ebony Barnes. Toni wanted a better life for her children. She worked long hours and sacrificed so much so everyone she loved would be taken care of. In 2001 Toni purchased her first home in West Haven, CT for her family to grow up in. Sunday was Toni’s favorite day. She would cook the biggest feasts and invite all her family and friends over. She got so much joy watching everyone enjoy being around each other and just loving each other.

It takes a very special and strong woman to accomplish and overcome what Toni has in her life. To her coworkers of 30 years, she was “T” but to her family she was simply Ma and/or ToneBetta. She is one that will always be remembered and loved for just being her, loving and caring.

She leaves to cherish her memory, children, Troy Fernandez (Lora Garner) of Miami, FL, Tequell Fernandez (Melvin Burton) of Fort Worth, TX, Raymond Ford, and Ebony Barnes both of Dallas, TX; Sisters, Donna Walker of Fort Worth, TX, Joyce Langley, Marcia and Ana Marie Perkins, Elizabeth McKnight all of New Haven, CT, and Darlene Tripp of Kissimmee, FL; Grand-Children, Troy Parks of Miami FL, Nicole Parks of Dallas, TX, Rahsheen Green of New Haven, CT, LaQuanda Hall, Danielle and Keshon Horton all of Birmingham, AL, Aaron Dantata of Fort Worth, TX, Charles and Zumaya Garner of Miami, FL; Great Grand-Children, Jelaiyah Green of New Haven, CT, Trinitee Lorraine Hall of Birmingham, AL, Troy Jr, Kyng, and Noah Parks of Miami, FL, Briannah, Janiah, A’maiah, Karter, and Royce Parks of Dallas, TX; Best friend Ana Colvin of New Haven, CT; and a host of other family and friends.
