Walter Michael Bertotti, 70, passed away Saturday, September 29, 2018, at his home in Murrells Inlet, SC. He was predeceased by his wife Rosemary (Wargo-Trotta) Bertotti. Walter was born on December 11, 1947, in Hamden, son of the late Oswald and Mary Bertotti. Walter was also predeceased by his brother, John. Walter is survived by his two step-daughters Ann-Marie Trotta and Laura (Trotta) Petronchack and her husband Tom; his three grandchildren, Dominic, Michael, and Alexandra Petronchak. He was originally from Hamden, and worked at and eventually became half-owner of Wally’s Service Station with his father. As a resident of the Greater Waterbury Area, Walter was proud to be a lifetime member of BPO of Elks, a member of the Watertown, CT, Chapter of the Lions Club where he acted as Emcee several times for the Miss Watertown pageant. Walter worked for the State of Connecticut, Emissions Department, for many years. He was a Marshall for the State of Connecticut, and also taught auto-mechanics at Porter and Chester Institute (Waterbury location). While living in Murrells Inlet, SC, he was proud to be able to assist in the Presidential election by phoning local residents to remind them to vote and to set-up transportation to their polling place if needed.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 2, 2018, at Colonial Funeral Home, 270 West Main Street, Waterbury. Calling hours are 6 to 8pm. Burial, at a later date, will be private.
