William B. Ahmed

August 4, 1951 - May 23, 2021

Burial Date: May 26, 2021

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday May 26, 2021 at Colonial, 86 Circular Avenue Hamden at 11am. Burial will follow at Beaverdale Memorial Park.

William B. Ahmed, known hereafter as, Brother Tisa was born August 4,1951 in New Haven, CT to Mr. George B. Clarke and the late Mrs. Mary A. Clarke-Gist. His parents christened him with the name William B. Clarke.

Brother Tisa grew up in a home where Christian faith was the foundation. At an early age he joined Bethel A.M.E. Church in New Haven, CT.

During the early 70s, Brother Tisa converted to Islam and was given the name William 9X. He found this as a sign to be known as Tisa, which in Arabic, translates to the number nine. He was a pioneering member of the Abdul Majid Karim Hasan Islamic Center for nearly 50 years. He spent decades learning and understanding Islam and remained a dutiful student. Brother Tisa was an avid reader, always seeking to make himself better in any and every facet of life. Da’wah was his passion and he used various platforms to achieve this goal. He was a 1000 paper seller and a regular fixture at the New Haven flea market.

Brother Tisa’s completion to the tenets of the faith was achieved after he completed the pilgrimage to Mecca and he participated in numerous Inter-Faith learning journeys before his health failed.

Brother Tisa was a friendly and social person who enjoyed meeting and talking to people of all walks of life. He was warm, outgoing and was particularly good at interacting with strangers.

Brother Tisa graduated from West Haven High School, West Haven, CT. He studied at the University of New Haven located in West Haven, CT where he was a member of the football team. He furthered his studies at Southern Connecticut State University located in New Haven, CT earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.

Brother Tisa was employed by the State of Connecticut full-time for 20 years as a Correction Officer. Additionally, for most of his adult life, he was actively involved in the family-owned janitorial and environmental services business, Clarke’s House and Window Cleaning. He was a master salesman.
