As a teen, I had only a textbook knowledge of Islam. I had read Malcolm X by Alex Haley. Bro. Tisa was my 1st cousin. He invited me 2 my 1st visit @ the old Lincoln Pub. School where an NOI speech was made on Division St. Next I visited the Masjid @ the Carmel St. address. & he invited me 2 the Masjids' new location on Dixwell. I attended the Muslim education dinners plus the Masjid suppers after Jumal services. I even met Capt. Joseph @ a dinner! (Hee knew Malcolm X, Elijah Muhammad, & Hon. Louis Farrakhan. I miss Tisa bad. I know see that he was the closest cousin 2 me spiritually.

I had the great pleasure of meeting Bill Ahmed in 1994 and worked with him till 1999 at the CT State Prison. Bill was dedicated to Islam and was a great officer and friend. You could always count on Bill to do the right thing. He had is priorities straight and I learned a lot from him. Bill had old time jail savvy and knew how to get things done in a world that most don’t even know exists. Bill had a good rapport with everyone from the Commissioner to the cadet. His positivity was infectious and if you spent a day working with him, it was going to be a good day! He will be greatly missed.

It is with great pride and honor I knew Brother Tisa through his brother Rasool and father Mr. Clarke. As the decades passed I knew him directly enough to be called friend. To the entire family my sincere condolences at this difficult time. But, All is Well he did service to and for others with a loving kindness. That in the eyes of Allah (GOD) is a reward for eternal life. "Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man." Proverbs 3:4 Peace Calvin J Brown Summerfield Florida
