Ji-Tu Cambuka Garrett beloved son, brother and friend was born on October 31st 1977 in New Haven Connecticut to Keitha Sands-Mahmoud and Abdul-Razzaq Mahmoud (aka Robert W. Garrett Jr.). Ji-Tu was raised and educated in Meriden, CT. It is here that he forged many friendships that turned into family. Ji-Tu had a deep love for his family and those that he considered close to him. His love for cheffing it up brought him happiness as he showcased his talents through culinary arts. Unfortunately, Ji-Tu received his wings on May 5th, 2023 in New Haven, CT where he resided for many years. His love for and dedication to his mother will always be remembered as he leaves behind to cherish his memory; mother Keitha Sands-Mahmoud of New Haven CT, two sisters; Karalyn Duncan of New Haven, CT and Robyn Enyiema of Washington DC, brother in law Christopher Duncan of New Haven CT, his paternal Grandmother Marion Garrett of New Haven CT, Uncle Kevin Garrett of South Carolina, 3 nephews; Adonai, Elias and Alakim Enyiema & 4 nieces; Atara Enyiema, Willora Enyiema, Zaidah Enyiema and Kalayah Duncan. He was predeceased by his father Abdul-Razzaq Mahmoud, paternal grandfather Robert Garrett Sr and maternal grandparents Melvin and Joan Sands of whom held a special place in his heart. The family would like to thank all that have reached out, sent prayers, expressed condolences in this very unexpected and challenging time.
